Drying Oils
Oil colours are made by
dispersing pigments in drying oils containing additives such as dryers, suspending
agents and wetting agents. By adding drying oils (and their additives) to oil
colours artists can significantly alter the colours behaviour and properties.
They are also useful to artists who want to grind their own colours.

Linseed Oil -
A pale viscous oil that can be mixed with Turpentine or Mineral Spirit to
improve the flow of oil colour. Retards drying but imparts a tough, elastic
finish. Use in conjunction with Turpentine or Artists' White Spirit to
improve colour flow.
